Why a Postgraduate Degree?

With the rapid expansion of the information and communication technology economy and infrastructure around the world, there is an ever-increasing need for specialist skills in computer, communication, and electronic engineering. Postgraduate degrees at Khalifa University are awarded for independent investigation of specialized areas of communication, computer, or electronics engineering. Postgraduate students have the opportunity to engage in leading-edge research. They are supervised by experienced researchers and are expected to demonstrate initiative in their approach and innovation in their work.

  • M.A. in International and Civil Security

    • The Master of Arts program in International and Civil Security will consider applicants from any area of undergraduate specialization
    • The degree has a formal taught courses component and a Masters Thesis component
    • The program may be taken on a full time (1.5 years) or part time (2.5 years) basis

  • M.Sc. by Research

    • This degree is available for the three specializations of communication, computer, or electronics engineering.
    • The degree is project-based and has no formal taught courses component. This makes it the first Master's degree to be offered by any UAE higher education institution in the area of engineering which is performed entirely by research.
    • The period of study concludes with the presentation of a thesis that must have a contribution to the relevant field.
    • The program may be undertaken on a full-time (minimum 18 months, 40 hours/week) or part-time (minimum 30 months, 24 hours/week) basis.

  • M.Sc. in Information Security

    • This degree is available for graduates of computer science, computer engineering, electronic engineering, communication engineering, or information technology.Candidates with other degrees may also be considered.In such cases, candidates will be asked to submit course descriptions along with their transcripts.
    • The degree has a formal taught courses component and a project component.
    • The period of study concludes with the presentation of a thesis that must have contribution to the relevant field.
    • The program may be taken on a full time (minimum 1 year) or part time (minimum 2 years).

  • M.Sc. in Nuclear Engineering

    • The Master of Science program in Nuclear Engineering will consider applicants from selective areas  of undergraduate specialization in engineering and science disciplines
    • The degree has a formal taught courses component and a Masters Thesis component
    • The program may be taken on a full time (1.5 years) or part time (2.5 years) basis, plus Pre-Masters bridging courses (up to 4) depending on students academic background

  • Ph.D. in Engineering

    • This degree is available for the three specializations of communication, computer, or electronics engineering.
    • This is the first Ph.D. in Engineering degree to be offered by any UAE higher education institution.
    • In the Taught Courses Component of the degree, the student is required to complete a program of advanced study.
    • In the Research Component of the degree, the student is required to carry out an independent investigation. This concludes with the presentation of a thesis that must be a significant contribution to the relevant field.
    • The program may be undertaken on a full-time (minimum 3 years) or part-time (minimum 5 years) basis.
