  • Khalifa University’s Culture and Heritage Club

    The mission of the Culture and Heritage Club at Khalifa University is to promote social interaction among students, to educate both Arabs and non-Arabs about Arab culture, heritage and identity. Furthermore, to advance and serve the society through community service. It is also a place for students who are prideful of their culture, heritage and language.


    Activities:

    • Providing Arabic language, culture classes and poetry night
    • Hosting festivals related to the Islamic culture
    • Participating in national and cultural events
    • Organizing Iftar during the holy month of Ramadan
    • Providing a learning experience about the unique culture, history, and linguistic aspects of the Arab world


    Time of meetings:

    Official meeting: Once every month

    Informal meeting: Daily, depending on need for upcoming events

  • Emirati Club

    The mission of the Emirati Club at Khalifa University is to promote, preserve and highlight Emirati traditions and culture among students, faculty, and staff.  Its main purpose is to organize and support various forms of activities in order to promote Emirati heritage, culture and customs.


    Activities:

    • Organizing National Day with the help of student council
    • Organizing talent day in spring semester
    • Organizing events and activities highlighting the UAE culture
    • Promoting the UAE customs and traditions
    • Providing opportunities to Non-Nationals to experience and learn more about UAE tradition, culture, and history


    Time of meetings:

  • Math Club

    The mission of the Math Club is to provide an opportunity to students with an interest in Mathematics to tackle more theories, treat advanced topics, learn the history of Mathematics, and learn new techniques in various areas of Mathematics. The Math Club aims to answer these inquiries, to show students the key role of Mathematics and its usage in daily life, as well as to enrich their knowledge and promote sound scientific reasoning.


    Activities:

    • Introducing students to famous Mathematicians
    • Offering several mini-courses and lectures in different areas of Mathematics
    • Teaching students how to write scientific texts and engage in research

  • Chess Club

    The mission of the Chess Club is to provide the required material for students of all levels to play friendly Chess games on campus in a low-stress environment. Playing Chess includes entertainment and relaxation in addition to being an intellectual exercise. It improves critical thinking and increases the mathematical and scientific skills of any individual, as well as his/her proficiency in problem solving.


    Activities:

    • Attracting students, who are not familiar with Chess and introduce them to the game
    • Organizing internal and external tournaments

  • The Book Club

    The mission of the Book Club is to promote the joy and love of reading. Book Club members will enjoy reading fiction and non-fiction while holding stimulating and enthusiastic conversation about the selected book. 


    Activity:

    Book Club members will read one book per semester with monthly meetings centered on discussing the book and the reading experience in a relaxed atmosphere.

  • Han (Korean) Club

    The Han Club is dedicated to promoting Korean social and cultural heritage, and to form bonds among those interested in Korean culture in the UAE.


    Activities:

    • Providing language & cultural classes
    • Organizing BBQ parties and potlucks
    • Promoting mentorship, friendship and networking (KAIST students, and Korean communities in the UAE

  • Green Crescent "Khalifa University Environmental Club"

    The mission of the green crescent club is to raise awareness about various environmental issues.


    Activities:

    • Organizing group research on environment related subject
    • Participating in environmental events
    • Promoting a green culture

  • Nippon Club

    The mission of the Nippon Club at Khalifa University is to explore the culture, language, and history of Japan. The club members will also have opportunities to learn the Japanese language, organize activities related to Japan and collaborate with Japanese club members from universities within the UAE.
    Nippon club is also committed to continuing its fundraising activities to assist victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japanese.


    Activities:

    • Holding weekly meetings (language, history, culture)
    • Organizing field trips
    • Organizing fundraising events
    • Hosting on campus movie event
    • Providing Japanese cooking lessons
    • Organizing Origami workshop
    • Anime drawing workshop

    On Sundays from 12:00 to 12:50pm

  • French Club

    The mission of the French Club is to teach students the French language. Its primary purpose is to promote the French language and to emphasize the importance of languages for a closely integrated career with technology.


    Activities:

    • Providing French classes on campus
    • Organizing French film events and exchanging French books and videos
    • Hosting events to encourage students to communicate in French
    • Exploring the French culture and community


    Time of meetings:

    Once every weeks and depending on needs and requirements

  • Debate Club

    The purpose of the Debate Club is to allow students to practice various methods of debating in order to improve students’ communication skills and prepare them to effectively express their opinions and ideas to a large audience.


    Activities:

    • Conducting both informal and formal debates
    • Researching news and views on current events
    • Organizing Khalifa University Debate Events
    • Participating in inter-university competitions
    • Participating in Model United Nations conferences


    Meeting Timings:

    Once every week depending on the type of topics

  • Photography Club

    Khalifa University Photography Club invites photo enthusiasts who wish to share their passion for photography with other students. The club promotes use of technology and science in photo manipulation and photo editing.


    Activities:

    • Organizing photo competitions among KU students
    • Organizing exhibitions emphasizing the talent of members
    • Encouraging the members to join local and international photography competitions
    • Organizing photography auctions for charity
    • Organizing photography workshops

  • Media Club

    The mission of the Media Club is to promote various forms of entertainment in order to enhance student life and spread information for the student body through various forms of technology and media.


    Activities:

    • Publishing Student Voice, Khailfa University Newsletter
    • Interviewing students, faculty and members of the community on topics of interest
    • Disseminating news about media and entertainment events
    • Holding regular meetings to exchange views
    • Organizing trips to media venues
    • Organizing film events

    Once per week depending on requirements and needs

  • Sports Club

    The Sports Club's mission is to promote sports and recreational activities as healthy leisure alternatives for our students (male and female), while also exposing them to a variety of different opportunities to develop their personal skills and life experience through physical fitness and educational activity.
    In the short term, the Sports Club aims to promote a healthy life style among students by encouraging them to participate in sporting events and trips. In the long term, the Sports Club hopes to establish competitive grade level sports teams that will participate in regional sporting competitions.


    The Sports Club will teach the fundamentals of games and promote good sportsmanship and respect for all participants; emphasizing:

    • Fun
    • Fundamental individual & team based skills
    • Sportsmanship
    • Teamwork
    • Leadership


    Activities:

    • Organizing sporting tournaments
    • Organizing off-campus sporting trips

  • Jung Sim Do Matrial Arts Club

    Jung Sim Do is a Traditional Korean Martial Art that encompasses the three major Martial Arts of Korea.  These being Tae Kwon Do, Hap Ki Do, and Yu do.  The techniques of these styles are then taught under the Philosophy of Jung Sim Do; meaning straight mind, or single mind, way.  This philosophy stresses the traditional oriental principals and values, such as rigorous mental and physical discipline, concentration, and most importantly respect; for others as well as oneself.


    The purpose of this club is:

    • To build one's moral character through the mental and physical training of this art
    • To teach the Korean art of self defense
    • To spread knowledge of the traditional martial art, Jung Sim Do


    Activities:

    Training in the art of TAE KWON DO –Korean for "Way of the Hand and Foot"

    Training in the art of HAP KI DO - Korean for "Way of Coordinating Power"

    Training in the art of YU DO - Or Korean Judo.  Yu do is practiced along with Hap Ki Do as well as separately 

    Training in traditional Korean self defense


    Philosophy - Basically involves a martial arts student's responsibility in the use of martial art techniques and extends to one’s own view of others and themselves; (e.g. concentration, self-discipline, and respect)


    Time of meetings:

    Once every week

    • Males: Mondays from 5:00 – 6:30 PM in Discovery Center
    • Females: Thursdays from 5:00 – 6:30 PM in the female activity room
  • Programming Club

    The programming club opens its door for all Khalifa University students to improve their skills in terms of programming and writing codes for the different programming problems. It encourages students to improve their programming skills, and establishes a relaxed environment where they can share their ideas in developing computer programs.

    Activities:

    • Studying different programming materials
    • Sharing ideas between the students
    • Practicing programming problems
