| As Interim President of KUSTAR, Dr. Arif provides comprehensive leadership and strategic direction for the development and management of KUSTAR and its programs. He maintains effective coordination between the university’s academic and administrative functions, overseeing and controlling student admissions, monitoring campus discipline and ensuring an environment conducive to academic excellence. Dr. Arif's responsibilities also include ensuring efficient administration of all infrastructure facilities of KUSTAR, devising policies, procedures, guidelines and work practices; and reporting and reviewing significant events, developments, proposals and concerns with KUSTAR He is a board member at the UAE Information and Communication Technology Fund and currently leading UAE universities efforts in the establishment of the Emirates Advanced Network for Research and Education. He is also member in several professional societies including the IET and IEEE. He was the UAE IEEE computer Society Chapter (Chair) for the period 2003-2008 Career Path: Prior to becoming Interim President of KUSTAR, Dr. Arif was Manager of the Etisalat University College* (EUC) and was also assistant professor and then associate professor at EUC, before being promoted to Deputy Head of the Computer Engineering Department and later to Deputy Manager Etisalat University College. He has lectured on various subjects and specializations within Computer and Communication Networks, including artificial intelligence and multimedia areas. Education: Dr. Arif has a doctoral degree in Telecommunications from the University of London, Queen Mary College. He also has a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from the Etisalat University College. * Currently known as Khalifa University – Sharjah Campus |
