In his new role, Prof. White will help establish the curriculum for KUSTAR's Systems Engineering program and recruit systems engineering faculty members. He will also be providing leadership for the Logistics Institute, as well as support in the enrollment of personnel. He will be based at the University's Abu Dhabi campus. Prof. Chelsea White comes to KUSTAR from being the head of the Industrial and Systems Engineering Department at Georgia Tech, which is ranked first in the United States for the best Industrial and Systems Engineering Departments, according to the ‘US News'. He is also currently serving the Schneider National Chair of Transportation and Logistics. In 1974, Prof. White received his PhD from the University of Michigan (UM) in Computer Information and Control Engineering. In addition to his academic achievements, Prof. White has also served on a number of prestigious Boards within the engineering and academic fraternity. He is the past president and member of the ITS Michigan Board of Directors, and the former member of the ITS America Board of Directors. Prof. White is currently a member of International Advisory Committee of Complex Systems and Intelligent Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Prof. White has co-authored, edited and published a number of academic texts and papers, primarily in the areas of control of finite stochastic and knowledge-based support systems. Prof. White's appointment further reflects the University's mission to be the region's leading science, technology, and research institution, and is the latest in a string of senior personnel hires at KUSTAR. KUSTAR's new President, Prof. Tod A. Laursen from Duke University (USA), the new Dean of Engineering, Prof. Miroslaw Skibniewski from the University of Maryland (USA) and the founding Chair of Biomedical Engineering, Prof. Stephen P DeWeerth from Georgia Institute of Technology, were also recently confirmed as taking up new roles.
