Khalifa University announced today that Professor Hans Joachim Schellnhuber, a world expert on climate change, will be the next speaker in its Distinguished Speakers Series. His lecture, “Will Innovation Save the World?” will take place on January 8th, 2012, in collaboration with the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies & Research in Abu Dhabi.

Khalifa University will hold the first student workshop on Cryptology on December 11, 2011, at the Yas Hotel, Abu Dhabi. The one day workshop is being organized by graduate students at Khalifa University.
Khalifa University, Cassidian and Emiraje Systems L.L.C. have opened a Cyber Operations Centre of Excellence on the Campus of Khalifa University in Abu Dhabi. The new centre will focus on research of the security of industrial control systems which are critical for energy infrastructure, encryption and digital forensics.

A group of 12 undergraduate students from Khalifa University, accompanied by two professors from the Biomedical Engineering Department, recently visited Imperial College London (ICL), one of the top rated universities in the world in the field of bioengineering, for a three week educational trip.

Students from Khalifa University have visited the Embassy of Japan in Abu Dhabi to hand over a donation for the earthquake and tsunami victims. Mr. Tatsuo Watanabe, Ambassador of Japan received the donation and expressed his thanks for their kind assistance. The donation was collected through a fundraising events organized by the [Nippon Club] (Japan Club) at the University in several occasions such as the University’s cultural festival.

Khalifa University and ATIC have today announced the appointment of Dr. Mohammed Ismail El Naggar as the Director for the ATIC-Khalifa University Semiconductor Research and Development Center at Khalifa University. In addition to his role as Director of the Center, Dr. El Naggar has been appointed to the ATIC Professorship Chair for Semiconductor Research at the University. This marks an important step towards connecting academic institutions in the Emirate with current research needs, which will help build advanced technologies and will establish a vital integrated semiconductor sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
