Civil engineering is one of the broadest engineering disciplines, encompassing many interdependent technical specialties.
Civil engineers plan, design, and supervise construction of a wide variety of facilities such as space stations, offshore structures, bridges, buildings, tunnels, highways, transit systems, dams, airports, irrigation projects, distribution facilities for water, and collection and treatment facilities for wastewater and hazardous wastes. Civil engineers are problem solvers. They give solutions to pollution, aging infrastructure, traffic congestion, energy needs, floods, earthquakes, urban development, and community planning.
Graduates may work at established public and private organizations or in entrepreneurial endeavours. Future career opportunities for civil engineers may range from project management to collaboration with architects, contractors, and government officials on construction efforts.
B.Sc. in Civil Infrastructure & Environmental Engineering
The B.Sc. in Civil Engineering program lays the foundation for the core civil engineering disciplines while engaging students to study and understand the overall global civil engineering profession and industry. In their senior year the students have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge in a particular subject like structures, project management or the environment. After graduation they can pursue careers in building, structural, geotechnical, hydraulic, water management, environmental and transport engineering. Alternatively, they can enroll in high ranking national or international Universities for an M.Sc. degree.
M.Sc. in Water & Environmental Engineering
The M.Sc. in Water & Environmental Engineering program aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the challenges behind ensuring sufficient and equitable access to clean water. Furthermore, the program gives candidates the opportunity to focus in one of two specialization tracks, namely Water and Environmental Technologies or Water and Environmental Resources and contribute to the process of discovery and knowledge creation through the conduct of original research.
