Prior to joining Khalifa University, Yasmeen Abu-Kheil worked as a Lab Engineer at the Institute of Applied Technology (IAT) where she was promoted to Applied Technology Teacher and Lead Teacher for the Electrical and Mechanical Departments.

During her work at IAT, she was an active member in external activities, PD sessions and competitions. She assisted in developing the curriculum for various courses: robotics, process control using LabVIEW, electrical machines and engineering projects. Her students’ graduation projects were selected the best projects at various exhibitions. Furthermore, her students have qualified to compete in such international competitions as World Robotic Olympic, Intel Science Competition and World Skills

Abu-Kheil has been involved in many competitions as a technical committee member and as a judge. She was a technical community member and workshop instructor for Robotics System Design Course in the 12th Asia-Pacific Conference on Giftedness (2012).  She was a technical committee member in Emirates Skills National Competitions in Mechatronics and Robotics, 2011 and 2012, respectively.  She also worked as a campus coordinator for IAT Technological Education Conference (IAT TEC 2012, 2013).

Abu-Kheil participated in ATIC Stem Educational Training Program and Al-Ain Tech Quest (2013) as a teacher. She is currently the Electronics UAE chief expert in the Emirates Skills National Competitions, and the UAE Electronics expert in World Skills.
