WHY A POSTGRADUATE DEGREE?
With the rapid expansion of the information and communication technology economy and infrastructurearound the world, there is an ever-increasing need for specialist skills in computer, communication, and electronic engineering.The Postgraduate degree programs at Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research (KUSTAR) are designed to respond tothese needs in a focussed way, endowing students with advanced technical and methodological skills.
Postgraduate degrees at KUSTAR are awarded for independent investigation of specialized areas of communication, computer, orelectronics engineering. Postgraduate students have the opportunity to engage in leading-edge research. MSC BY RESEARCH

This degree is available for the three specializations of communication, computer, or electronics engineering.The degree is project-based and has no formal taught courses component.

This makes it the first Master's degree to be offered by any UAE higher education institution in the area of engineering which is performed entirely by research.

The period of studyconcludes with the presentation of a thesis that must have a contribution to the relevant field.

The program may be undertaken on a full-time (minimum 18 months, 40 hours/week) or part-time (minimum 30 months, 24 hours/week) basis.

MSC IN INFORMATION SECURITY

This degree is available for graduates of computer science, computer engineering, electronic engineering, communicationengineering, or information technology. Candidates with other degrees may also be considered.

In such cases, candidates will beasked to submit course descriptions along with their transcripts.

The degree has a formal taught courses component and a project component.

The period of study concludes with the presentation of a thesis that must have contribution to the relevant field.The program may be taken on a full time (minimum 1 year) or part time (minimum 2 years).

PHD IN ENGINEERING

This degree is available for the three specializations of communication, computer, or electronics engineering.

This is the first Ph.D. in Engineeringdegree to be offered by any UAE higher education institution.

In the Taught Courses Component of the degree, the student isrequired to complete a program of advanced study.

In the Research Component of the degree, the student is required to carry outan independent investigation.

This concludes with the presentation of a thesis that must be a significant contribution to therelevant field.

The program may be undertaken on a full-time (minimum 3 years) or part-time (minimum 5 years) basis.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

A minimum CGPA score of 3.0 out of 4.0 or equivalent in a relevant* Bachelor degree for admission to the MSc by Research program, or in a relevant* Master degree for admission to the PhD in Engineering program.

A minimum level of proficiency in English in the form of a TOEFL score of 550, an IELTS of 6.0, or an equivalent qualification.
*Relevant specializations include Electrical engineering, Electronic engineering, Communication engineering, Computer engineering, Computerscience, and Information Technology. Candidates with degrees in other pertinent specializations may also be considered.
APPLICATION PROCESS
Applicants may select from the list of available research projects published annually by the University, oralternatively may suggest their own projects in consultation with a potential university supervisor.Applicants should complete an application form and forward it, along with supporting documentation, to the Director ofPostgraduate Studies.In addition, applicants should forward reference letter forms to three nominated referees.Applications must be made by the Application Deadlines published annually by the university.
The following items should be included with the application form:

A certified copy of the applicant's degree certificate along with an official transcript.

Evidence of English languageproficiency, e.g. TOEFL or IELTS results.

Four recent passport size photographs.

A photocopy of the applicant's passport.

A photocopy of Khulasat Al-Qaid (for UAE Nationals).

A detailed Curriculum Vita (CV).
